Description

This is a first take on M109 with my Redcat 51 setup.  Galaxies, sans Andromeda and a few others, are not too spectacular when imaged with such a small focal length telescopes as my Redcat.  That being said I was interested to see what I could get and actually I'm quite pleasantly surprised.  I've had nothing but cloudy skies for weeks now and last night was a good opportunity for a long exposure as the forecast showed I should have a fairly clear night for the entire evening.  I was going to shoot M13 but I picked M109 as a test focus object with my Optolong L-nHance filter.  Once I saw what I was getting I decided to change targets and did a series of 96x300" subs with my ASI533MC that was attached.  I cropped the full image for just this subsection.

I'm sure my C14 will give a much more detailed image of this object and I will certainly do that in the future but this is a start.
